Our Purpose and Passion

At BreakingBurnout.org, our mission is to connect neurodivergent professionals with resources, support, and research related to mental health and burnout. We understand that neurodiversity encompasses a wide range of experiences, and we believe that each unique perspective adds depth to our community. Our goal is to connect neurodivergent professionals wit resources, support and research that will help them and the community mental health companies they work at better understand the scope and severity of burnout, especially among neurodivergent professionals, within the community mental health field.

As graduate students, we approach our work with humility. We recognize that we do not have all the answers, but we are committed to learning alongside you. It is our hope that by sharing our insights, we can help bridge gaps in understanding and facilitate conversations about mental health and well-being.

What Burnout Means

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged and excessive stress. It can lead to feelings of helplessness, cynicism, and detachment. For neurodivergent individuals, the signs and symptoms of burnout may look different than they do for others.

Research shows that neurodivergent professionals may experience burnout more acutely due to challenges that stem from their unique neurological makeup. This can include social misunderstandings, sensory sensitivities, and the pressure to conform to societal norms. Understanding these differences is crucial for creating supportive environments in both workplace settings and mental health organizations.

  • Build Connections: A platform for professionals to connect, share experiences, and support one another.

  • Engage the Community: Advocate for the needs of neurodivergent professionals within local community mental health organizations.

Building a Supportive Community

We aim to create a community that values reformation to company policies and procedures to support neurodivergent professionals to prevent burnout and other mental health struggles. At BreakingBurnout.org, we invite you to join us in this mission. Your unique experiences and perspectives are invaluable to shape the world we want to live in.

To foster this community, we encourage you to:

  • Share Your Story: Personal stories can resonate deeply with others and create pathways for understanding. Consider sharing your experiences with burnout and what you have learned.
